Mykola Semenovich SAMOKISH  1860 — 1944

Mykola Semenovich Samokish was born in Nizhyn, Ukraine in 1860. Painter and graphic artist. Studied at St. Petersburg Art Academy in the studios of B. Villevalde and P. Chistakhov (1879-1885) and later in Paris (1886-1889). Returned to Ukraine in 1889. In 1912-1917 taught at St. Petersburg Art Academy. In 1936-1941 taught at the Kharkiv Art Institute. Recepient of the State Award of the USSR in 1941. Died in Simferopol, Crimea in 1944.
