Studied at the Moscow College of Art, Sculpture and Architecture (1875-1886) in the studio of A. Savrasov, V. Polenov and at the Academy of Arts. Lived in Moscow. In 1885-1891 and 1896-1898 was a decorator at the Russian Opera of S. Mamontova, in 1903-1910 – a decorator at the Bolshoi Theatre and in 1910-1919 the head decorator and consulting artist for the Imperial Moscow theatres. In 1889 traveled to Caucasus, in 1894 – to the North of Russia, in late 1890’s – to the Central Asia. Korovin was a professor at the Moscow College of Art, Sculpture and Architecture and at the State Free Art Studios (1901-1919). Member of the group “World of art” and Russian Artist’s Union. He painted landscapes, portraits, still life paintings as well as executed stage designs. |
