Anton Ivanovych Monastyrskiy was born in the village of Zavalovo, Ternopil region of Ukraine in 1878. In 1895-1899 he studied in the Lviv Applied Art School, in 1900-1905 – at the Krakow Art Academy. He started exhibiting in 1900. The artist lived and worked in Lviv. In 1957 he received the title of the honorary artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic. The artist died in Lviv in 1969.
