 | Sasha MOLDOVAN 1901 — 1982Саша МОЛДОВАН • Саша МОЛДОВАНSasha Moldovan was born into a Jewish family in Kishinev province, Moldova in 1901. The family emigrated to America in 1914. The family settled in the lower east side of New York City. In 1922 Moldovan made his trip to Paris where he enrolled in the Academie Julian and the Grand Chamiers. He soon became friends with Soutine and Matisse. Started exhibiting at the Salon D`automne in 1927. He returned to the United states in 1933 and was chosen by the WPA to design and paint murals for the public school system . Moldovan had a very successful career as an artist in the USA. He died in 1982. |
