Sergueï FOTINSKY 1887 — 1971Сергій ФОТІНСЬКИЙ • Сергей ФОТИНСКИЙBorn in Odessa in 1887. Graphic artist and painter. Studied in Odessa Art College. In 1906 moved to Berlin and in 1908 – to Paris. Painted portraits, landscapes. Exhibited at the Independent and Autumn Salon. Participated in the exhibitions of Russian artists at the café La Rotonde (1925) and gallery Zak (1930) in Paris. Exhibited at the first exhibition of Russian artists in London and New York in 1923. The same year Fotinsky participated in the exhibition of contemporary Russian painting in Chicago. Recipient of a silver medal at an International exhibition of decorative art in Paris in 1925. Held three personal exhibitions at the gallery Billiet. Together with M. Larionov organized exhibition of contemporary French art in Moscow. Published illustrations in French magazines Clarte and Le Monde. In 1935-1937 worked in Moscow. In 1946 held personal exhibition at the gallery de l’Elisee. Died in Paris in 1971. |
