Studied architecture at St. Petersburg Art Academy, at the academy in Paris. In 1895-1898 traveled to Egypt, Greece, France and other countries. Taught at Moscow College of Art, Sculpture and Architecture and later at Stroganov’s College. In 1900’s studied and copied old Russian frescoes. Since 1909 became a theatre design artist. In 1918 immigrated to Constantinople. In 1922 moved to Belgrade where became the initiator and the director of the art studios of folk theatre. In 1925 settled in Rome. Exhibited his work as a part of group exhibitions in many European cities, in New York and at the exhibit of Russian art in Paris in 1921, Belgrade 1930. Exhibited together with his wife at W. Hirshman gallery in Paris (1930) and Eastern Institute of Vatican (1932). In 1933 founded a Museum of Russian sacral art in affiliation with the Eastern Institute of Vatican. Died in 1937 in Rome. |
