Yegor Ostrov was born in Leningrad in 1970. After studying for almost two years at the Ilya Repin Art Institute at St. Petersburg, the artist dropped out of school. In 1993 Ostrov studied art at the private studio of Timur Novikov. In 1994 he created his first series of paintings in "optical art" style. The artist lives and works in Moscow.
