Mykola Azovsky was born in Kiev in 1903. He was the grandson of Vasily Vereschagin. A member of the Boichuk School, Azovsky was one of the few Ukrainian artists whose work was featured at the Soviet pavilion of the 1937 World Fair in Paris and at the Venice Biennale. Azovsky died in Buenos Aires in 1947.
