Yuliy Mykolayovych Yatchenko was born in 1928 in the village of Repky, Chernihiv region of Ukraine. In 1953 he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute. He taught at the Republican Art School by the name of T.H.Shevchenko in 1957-1963 and at the Kyiv Art Institute since 1963. The artist lives and works in Kyiv.
