Sokolov – the founder of Russian watercolor portrait school. Pyotr Sokolov studied at St. Petersburg Art Academy (1840-1843). He lived in St. Petersburg and Moscow and did some travels within Russia. Sokolv was a military correspondent at the Russian – Turkish was of 1877-1878. He worked as illustrator, painted genre paintings and portraits. |
