He attended the Educational and Professional School of Decorative Painting in Kharkiv in 1905-1909 and then KKhU and the private studios of Shteinberg and Grot in Kyiv in 1910-1911. Attended Evgenii Afafonov’s Blue Lily Studioin Kharkiv in 1911-1912. Enrolled in MIPSA in 1912. Worked with Maria Syniakova, member of the Budiak (Weed) group in Kharkiv in 1913-1914. In 1918 became the member of the Kharkiv Futurist group, Union of Seven. Painted mural for the Red Army Clubin Kharkiv in 1920. Designed the Red Ukraine agit-train in 1921. Taught at the Kharkiv Art College in 1922-1935. In 1928 became a member of ARMU. Designed Ukrainian section of the Press Exhibition in Cologne. In 1920s worked as designer and illustrator of magazines and books such as Novoe Mystectvo, Avant-garde and Kultura i Propaganda. The artist died in Kharkiv in 1967. |
