Ossip LUBITCH 1896 — 1990Осіп ЛЮБІЧ • Осип ЛЮБИЧOssip (Ausip) Lubitch was born in Grodno, Belarus in 1896. He first studied at Odessa Art College. In 1919 he went to Berlin where he painted various theatre scenes. In 1923 he came to Paris, were he immediately became successful and showed his painting at the "Salon d`Automne of 1923". In 1934 he illustrated the "Circus", a famous poem by George Rouault. Lubitch is one of the Masters of the "Ecole de Paris". His masterpieces are at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris and also at the Museum of Modern Art of Tel Aviv. Lubitch died in 1990 in Paris. |
