Yakov Ivanovich Brovar attended the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1885-1896 as a non-enrolled student and studied in the studios of M.K.Klodt, I.I.Shishkin and A.I.Kuindzhi. He received a title of painter in 1896. The artist traveled a lot in Russia and painted a number of landscapes. During the Soviet time the artist painted genre paintings. Yakov Brovar was the father of a poet Anna Mar (1887-1918). The artist died in 1941.
