Phylip Andreevich MALYAVIN 1869 — 1940Филип Андрійович МАЛЯВІН • Филип Андреевич МАЛЯВИНStudied in Greece in the monastery iconography school (1885-1891) and later at the St. Petersburg Art Academy (1892-1899) in the studio of I.E. Repin. Since 1903 became a member of Russian Artists’ Union. Malyavin started as portrait painter and in the late 1890’s developed his style into folk motives, often depicting woman with expressive faces and bizarre vivid clothes filling the canvas. In 1922 Malyavin went to Paris to organized his personal exhibit. He later moved to Nice where he worked and lived. |
