Studied at Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1896-1901; at Imperial Academy of Arts in 1907-1909 and simultaneously with V.V. Mate, St. Petersburg. Active in Russia and Spain in 1900s; Greece and Italy in 1909-1911; Poltava (Ukraine) in 1911-1919; Berlin from 1919; Riga, Latvia after 1932; Belgium; Lichtenstein in 1938-1953; Argentina in 1953. Exhibited with Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture; Itinerants in 1903; Union of Russian Artists in 1910. Taught in own studio, Poltava. Worked as a bullfighter in Spain early 1900s; as a counterfeiter in 1920s (imprisoned repeatedly). Died in Argentina in 1953. |
