Plyusnin, Ekaterinburg in 1889-1895; at Shtiglits Technical Drawing College in 1895-1896; at L. E. Dmitriev-Kavkazski’s studio-school, St. Petersburg in 1895-1896; at Stroganov College 1896-1897; at Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1898-1907. Active in Russian north after 1907; Ekaterinburg until c. 1920; Moscow from 1920. Began exhibiting in 1904. Specialized in landscape, especially small-scale and containing horses. Taught at Ekaterinburg Arts and Crafts School in 1919-1920. Prime exponent of the Moscow painterly tradition of the ‘broad mark’. Died in 1945. |
