| Zinaida SEREBRIAKOVA 1884 — 1967Зінаїда СЄРЄБРЯКОВА • Зинаида Евгеньевна СЕРЕБРЯКОВАZinaida Evgenyevna Serebriakova (born Lansere) was born in the estate of Neskuchnoye, near Kharkiv, Ukraine. Her father was a sculptor E. Lansere and her mother was a sister of A. Benois. Serebriakova studied in St. Petersburg in a private studio of M. Tenishevoy (1901) and later in the studios of I. Repin and O. Braza (1903-1905). In 1905-1906 she lived in Paris and studied at the Grande Chamiere Academy. The artist spent her summer and autumn time in Neskuchnoye where she painted peasants, portraits, landscapes, compositions with children. Serebriakova received recognition after exhibiting her self-portrait at the Russian artists union exhibition in 1910. In 1914 she traveled to Switzerland, Italy. In 1919 Serebriakova’s husband died and left her with four children. After loosing her estate to a fire she moved to Paris in 1924. There she exhibited at Bernheim-Jeune, W. Hirshman, J. Charpentier. Also participated in the exhibitions of Russian artists in Paris, Pittsburgh, Brussels, Belgrade, Berlin and Prague. In 1929 she exhibited in Leningrad. In 1940 the artist moved to a studio on Montparnasse. In 1961 participated in the exhibition “Benois Family” in London. She died in Paris in 1967. |
