Georgiy VEREISKY 1886 — 1962Георгій Семенович ВЕРЕЙСЬКИЙ • Георгий ВЕРЕЙСКИЙBorn in Proskurov (today’s Khmelnytski, Ukraine) to a family of a merchant. In 1895 the family moved to Kharkiv, where Vereisky studied in the private studios of E. Shreyder (1901-1905). Later the artist moved to St. Petersburg where he studied in the studios of Dobuzhinski and Ostroumova-Lebedeva. He was a member of “World of Art” movement. Vereiski was inspired by the works of Seurat. The artist worked at Hermitage museum where he started department of prints(1918-1930). Vereisky died in Leningrad in 1962. |
