Alexander Ivanovich Savinov was a son of a Saratov merchant. He studied at the Academy of Arts under Dmitry Kardovsky. He is best known for his landscapes and genre paintings a number of which are in Russian national collections such as the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow and the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg.
