| Pavlo MAKOV 1958 — Павло МАКОВ • Павел МАКОВPavlo Makov was born in 1958 in St. Petersburg. He studied at the Simferopol Art College in 1974-1979; at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in 1977-1978; at the Kharkov Art Institute, Graphic Department in 1979-1984. Makov is a member of Artists’ Union of Ukraine since 1988; a member of Royal Society of Painters-Printmakers, Great Britain since 1994. The artist is known for his unique etchings, which he produces utilizing four “post-print” methods: found object, printing from a print, silkscreen print and photo-etching. All “post-prints” are based on an original copper plate engraving. Between 1992 and 2005, Makov worked on a major art project called Utopia. A number of works from this project were acquired by private and institutional collectors, including the collection of Pinchuk Art Centre. The most recent exhibition of Makov “Alleyway. The History of a Stroll” took place at Ya Gallery, Kyiv in May of 2009. The artist lives and works in Kharkiv, Ukraine. |
