Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. His initial career was in the army from which he retired as a general in 1892. Upon retirement Yaroshenko entered the art school of the Art Encouragement Society (Obschestvo Pooschrenija Chudoshestv) where he studied in the studio of I. Kramskoy. From 1867-1874 the artist studied at the St. Petersburg Art Academy. Yaroshenko lived in St. Petersburg and Kislovodsk. He traveled to the West, Middle East, Ural, up the Volga river, Caucasus and Crimea. From 1876 became a member of the Itinerants Society (Tovarischestvo Peredvishnych Chudoshestvennych Vystavok). Painted genre, portrait and landscape paintings. Yaroshenko died in Kislovodsk in 1898. |
