In 1868 the artist entered St. Petersburg Art Academy. He dropped the Academy in 1873 and returned to Odessa where the immediate proximity to the Black Sea enabled the artist to produce beautiful marine paintings. In 1882 he became an Academician. His paintings are distinguished by theirs realism and poeticism. |
