Aleksandr Davydovich (Rudolf) Drevin was born in Cesis, Latvia in 1889. Studied at the Riga drawing school until 1913 where he studied in the studio of V. Purvit. Moved to Moscow in 1914. Taught at Vhutemas-Vchutein in 1920-1932. Member of the “Bubnovyj valet” group. Painted thematical paintings, landscapes, portraits. Died in Moscow in 1938.
