Vassily Tsagolov was born in Digora, Southern Ossetia in 1957. He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, department of painting in 1986. Art of Tsagolov is associated with the “Southern Wave” movement. The artist paints large size, expressively executed realistic paintings. The works are easily recognized by white canvas “left outs” that define Tsagolov’s individual technique. The most successful series by Tsagolov are “Ukrainian X-files” 2003 and “Office Affairs” 2008-2009. The artist lives and works in Kyiv.
