Alexei Sundukov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Art and Industry (formerly the Stroganov Institute) in 1982. He joined the Union of Artists in 1986. He achieved fame after the Seventh Youth Exhibit in Moscow in 1988, where his paintings attracted the attention of critics and the press.
