He was one of the founders of the History of Russian Culture Museum in Prague and he donated many of his works to its collection. His drawing technique at the end of the 1930s involved the stippled application of Indian ink, followed by an engraving of the drawing produced by means of zinc plates (Gillotage); less frequently, the artist used colored Indian ink or graphite pencil. Yupatov died near Riga in 1975.
