Joachim WEINGART 1895 — 1942Йоахим ВЕЙНГАРТ • Иоахим ВЕЙНГАРТJoachim Weingart (Weingarten) was born in 1895 in Drohobych, Ukraine. He studied at the Art-Technical School in Weimar and at the Vienna Academy of Arts. In 1923 he attended Alexander Archipenko’s classes in Berlin. In 1923 he had a personal exhibition in Lviv. In 1925 Weingart went to Paris, where he was a member of the Group of Four. Exhibited at the Salon des Independents in 1926-1830; in 1929 he was included in an exhibition of Polish art at the Bonaparte gallery. Weingart had solo show in 1932 at the Jewish Society for Connecting the Arts in Warsaw. Art collector R. Gimpel patronized the artist. Weingart is known for his landscapes, still life and genre paintings. The artist was arrested by Nazis in 1942 and died in concentration camp in Auschwitz in 1942. |
