 | Ivan Silych GORIUSHKIN-SOROKOPUDOV 1873 — 1954Іван Сілич ГОРЮШКІН-СОРОКОПУДОВ • Иван Силыч ГОРЮШКИН-СОРОКОПУДОВ Ivan Silych Goriushkin-Sorokopudov was born in village Nashchi of the Tambov province in 1873. Early having remained without parents, he was sent to Saratov to study. In Saratov he lived with his distant relatives - petty bourgeoises Sorokopudovy – that’s why he has a double surname. All his "Universities" Ivan had passed " in people " - at Kuzmin`s merchant, " the boy at buffet " by the Volga steamships. Goriushkin’s formation as the artist has happened in the end XIX - the beginning of XX centuries when the searching of any new forms of expressive and graphic language in the fine arts, the literature, music, theatre were conducted. And Ivan Silych has not remained away from these searches. In 1895 the artist entered Fine Art School at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg where he studied in the studio of I.E.Repin. At the academy he studied together with F.Maliavin, B.Kustodiev, D.Kardovskii, I.Bilibin, I.Kulikov, N.Feshin. Goriushkin became interested in historic genre painting from the times of Ivan the Terrible and Boris Godunov. Bell towers, churches and wooden houses depicted by the artist were inspired by the architecture of Uglich, Suzdal, Saratov, Astrakhan and Khvalynsk – old Russian cities. Goriushkin died in the village of Ivanovka, Penza province in 1954. |
