Alfons Konstantinovich ZHABA 1878 — 1942Альфонс Костянтинович ЖАБА • Альфонс Константинович ЖАБАAlfons Konstantinovich Zhaba was born in Tiflis (Tbilisi), Georgia in 1878. Studied at Imperial Academy of Arts in 1899-1907. Active in St. Petersburg. Began exhibiting in 1903. Member of Commune of Artists in 1910s-20s. Painted northern landscapes c. 1910; battle subjects and landscapes after 1917. Also a graphic artist. Died in Leningrad in 1942. |
