Portrait painter, representative of romanticism. He began his studying at the age of six at St. Petersburg Art Academy (1788-1803) where he studied in the studios of G. Ugriumov and G. Duayenu. In 1812 Kiprensky created the portrait gallery dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. In 1828 the artist moved to Italy. Kiprensky became the first Russian painter who was commissioned by The Florence Academy of Arts Uffizi Gallery to paint his self-portrait. The artist died Rome in 1836. |
