Painter and graphic artist. Studied mathematics and physics at St. Petersburg University in 1906. Studied at St. Petersburg Art Academy in 1908-1910 in the studio of V.E. Makovsky. Further studied at the private art studio of M.D.Bernshtein in 1910-1912. In 1912 Volkov moved to Kyiv, where he studied at the Kyiv Art College in the studios of F.H.Krychevsky and Menk in 1912-1916. In 1916 the artist moved to Tashkent, remaining there until the end of his life. In 1934 Volkov was accused of formalism, banned from receiving commissions and exhibiting publicly. Volkov taught at the Tashkent Art College in 1919-1946. Died in Tashkent in 1957. |
