Anatoli Lvovich Kaplan was born in Rogachev, Gomel region, Byelorussia in 1902. Studied at Petrograd Academy of Arts in 1921-1926. Active in Leningrad. Specialized in Jewish subjects. Best known as a graphic artist. Also a ceramic artist. Non-conformist artist of 1960s-1980s. Died in Leningrad in 1980.
