Painter, watercolorist and a print maker. Is well known for his landscape and marine paintings. He received basic art education in the studio of F. Shtern in Arensburg. In 1858 studied in the sculpture studio of professor D. Iensen in St. Petersburg. Studied at the Imperial Art Academy in 1858-1862 at the department of landscape painting in the studio of S. Vorobiev. In 1863-1869, upon receiving a scholarship from the Academy, traveled to Germany, Belgium, Holland, and France. Became an academician in 1868. In 1873 became a professor at the Imperial Art Academy. After 1873 lived mostly in Dusseldorf where he taught at the Art Academy. Exhibited on a regular basis in Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin, and London. Often traveled to Russian and Estonia. Dukker died in Dusseldorf in 1916. |
