Ghraphic artist and painter. Son of a craftsman, he took engraving lessons from his father. 1887-1892 studied at ZUTR. Studied etching in the studio of V.V. Mate. 1890 worked for different publishers and magazines. In 1902 and 1906 traveled abroad to improve etching technique. Executed portraits in etchings of prominent figures and members of the imperial family and also copies in etching of paintings in the Ermitage and Russian Museum. Executed drawings for post cards, ex libris. From time to time painted landscapes, flowers and portraits. Exhibited in Spring Exhibitions at the Academy of Art, Associations of Artists, was a member of the «Mussarov`s Mondays», founding member of the Russian Applied Art Society. 1905 elected academician. 1909 awarded the French Orden «Les Palmes Academiques». Died in Paris in 1935. |
