Michael KIKOIN 1892 — 1968Михаїл КІКОЇН • Михаил КИКОИНMichael Kikoin (also Michel Kikoine) was born in 1892 in Rozitten, Vitebsk region, today’s Rezekne, Latvia. Painter. Studied in Art School in Minsk in the studio of Y. Kruger and in Vilnius Art College. Moved to Paris in 1912. Painted landscapes, still life paintings, portraits, and expressive nudes. Participated in Salon exhibitions since 1914. Personal exhibitions at Cheron (1920) and Netter (1924) galleries. Also exhibited at Zborovsky, Bernheim, Billiet-Worms and Ersid galleries in Paris and in New York at the Brummer gallery. Exhibited at the Contemporary French Art exhibit in Moscow in 1928 and Ecole de Paris exhibition at the gallery S. Lesnick in Paris. In 1933 moved to a studio in Montparnasse where he lived and worked until 1968. In 1950s traveled to Spain and Italy, visited Israel three times. Kikoin died in his studio in Paris in 1968. |
